frequently asked questions
how does it work?
A small handheld tattoo machine with a sterile needle deposits pigment into the lips, which builds layers of colour. Colour and boldness are based on client preference. It can be a corrective service to help even out the tone of the lips and also help with asymmetry.
Will it look like lipstick?
Lip Blush is a technique that produces more of a lip tint result. However, everybody's skin takes the tattoo differently. We always start lighter and colour can be built up on the touch-up appointment.
How long does the appointment take?
The first appointment takes 3-4 hours, and the touch-up takes about 2-3 hours.
What is the healing process?
Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and typically subsides within the first 24 hours. Your lips will appear darker for the first few days. It takes about 4-5 days to heal.
Can I still get a lip tattoo if I have lip filler?
Yes. Having Lip filler does not interfere with the process of the lip blush or the results. Lip filler MUST be done at least 4 weeks before and after lip blush procedure.
Can we go outside of the lip line?
Yes, but only 2mm. The skin on the lips is not the same as on the face. Results may be unpredictable and look unnatural if we tattoo too far outside the natural lip line.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Lips are one of the most sensitive areas of the human body. It can be slightly uncomfortable at times, but completely bearable. Clients that have taken caffeine may experience extra sensitivity because it can combat against numbing.
Clients who also have scars on their lips from cold sores, sun damage, etc. may experience sensitivity as well.
