Saline tattoo Lightening
frequently asked questions
How does it work?
Saline Tattoo Lightening is used to lift, lighten and correct existing eyebrow tattoos. A high concentration of salt water is deposited into the dermis where the pigment is. The water in the cells beneath the pigment will rise, which causes equilibrium. This forces the pigment from the dermal layer up to the epidermis by Osmotic pressure. The pigment becomes trapped in the scab and when the scabs falls off some of the pigment goes with it.
how many sessions will it take?
It’s impossible to predict how many sessions it will take. It depends what pigments were used, how deep they were inserted, artist’s technique, etc. It can anywhere between 1-6 sessions reach the desired lightening results.
what is the wait time in between each session?
The skin needs adequate time to heal. It is recommended that 8 full weeks of healing takes place before another session is performed. Results are even better with longer healing time.
can an “Emergency Li-FT” lightening technique be performed?
Yes, a soak with Li-FT can be done up to 48 hours after a client has had a procedure. The skin has not fully formed its epidermal crust at this point and will absorb Li-FT.
What is the difference between saline tattoo removal and laser tattoo removal?
With laser tattoo removal, the ink is absorbed into the body. While with saline tattoo removal, the pigment is pushed out of the body.
Laser tattoo removal targets specific colours in the undesired tattoo and cannot remove titanium dioxide, but saline tattoo removals remove all colours.
do you have to remove the whole tattoo?
No. There may be situations where all of the existing tattoo does not need to be removed. Only a portion of the tattoo may need to be removed before performing a correction.
what to expect after the procedure?
It is normal for the area to be very red, swollen and bleed. It will scab and take 7-14 days to heal.
